World Cup Player Watch
Rice - England - missing due to illness, hope it's not to bad a cold but to be sent home there will be a bit of caution on how he recovers.

Soucek - Czech Rep - played 90 minutes and scored against Kuwait in a 7-1 win. Why he had to play 90 minutes with that kind of scoreline is a mystery to me.

Kral - Czech Rep - came on after 61 minutes, really needed more game time

Coufal - Czech Rep - played the whole 90 minutes, needed to and hopefully no set backs. An assist.

Yarmolenko - Ukraine - 90 minutes in a friendly 1-1 draw with Bulgaria. Needed the minutes. Has a must win game with Bosnia on Tuesday

Vlasic - Croatia - came on in the 54 minute of a 7-1 win against Malta. Croatia have a must win game against Russia on Sunday could start. Useful minutes whatever.

Antonio - Jamaica - plays today in El Salvador after 13hr flight to get there. I'm not sure how these schedules are worked out and if he had to go to Jamaica first god knows. It's a lot of traveling, probably on a Private jet but he'll be exhausted on his return. This game is a must win for both teams. Jamaica have the USA next. They are going to have win most of there last 8 games, pick up 13 plus points and then that might only get them 3rd or 4th which a play off place.
If Jamaica are still in with a shout come the end of January we will lose him for 2 fixtures at least then. For us that's not good so a little harsh but Jamaica have to lose both games . Still a bit bewildered why Antonio decided to choose and play for Jamaica, possibly for a bit of hot sunshine.

Zouma - France - have a fixture at home to Kazakhstan tonight and away to Finland on Monday. He should get some game time against Kazakhstan.

Fornals - Spain - came on as a 65th minute sub in the 1-0 win agaisnt Greece. Could start in the winner takes all game against Sweden on Sunday.

Benrhama - Algeria - has a qualifyer tonight against Djibouti actually in Cairo then a game against Bukina Faso on Tuesday. It's between these two who qualify for 3rd round another winner takes all.

Masukua - DR Congo hopefully will stay there

Thank you daveyg.

Wanked myself silly when I heard Rice had a cold.

Absolute gold dust for west ham that, with him missing a couple of pretty pointless games and getting some rest.

Re: World Cup Player Watch
When I heard Rice had pulled out with an 'illness' I finally accepted that we are MASSIVE.

Some like Kral & Coufal need a run out but was hoping Antonio would call it quits after one appearance when he had a shirt to frame for his grandad. An early exit and an international retirement is needed.

Benrahma scored the second in Algeria's 4-0 win over Djbouti.
Need a point in their last game v Burkina Faso on Tuesday to qualify

Antonio came on sub and notched in a 1-1 draw.

Nice goal. https://www.yoursoccerdose.com/18140141-el-salvador-vs-jamaica-wc-qualification-concacaf/#3

Apparently the plan is he plays the full 90 against the USA.

Re: World Cup Player Watch
That was a lovely goal from Antonio. Typical bulldozing through on the wing, running and controlling the ball, finished off with a chip with his left boot.

I would rather he was sitting at home with his feet up though.

Re: World Cup Player Watch
If they dont beat the USA I presume qualification is impossible
That should be the end of his international adventure

Re: World Cup Player Watch
Sven you would of thought so but still another 6 games to go after US game.
They could make it awkward for is by calling him up at the end of Jan

Re: World Cup Player Watch
He can announce his retirement whenever he wants.
I'd be calling him in when he gets back and marking his card if I was Moyes.

Re: World Cup Player Watch
Good thread, not that it will get many replies of course as it's abut football, and not too many on here are into that.

There are some real humdingers over the next few days that have gone down to the wire, could be interesting.

Couldn't get that video to work, so here's another one of Antonio's goal. Would love to see him score one like that for us. Magic.

Thanks Daveyg, although I don’t agree with your Masuaku comment.

Re: World Cup Player Watch
Cheers Dave.

Antonio's Jamaica has the States, Mexico and Panama - three of the top four in World Cup qualifying - in the next three games this week and in January.

I would appreciate his contribution in taking some points off those teams.

He can stay home in March, once those are done.

Re: World Cup Player Watch
Obviously not good for them personally but would be good for us if the Czechs fail to qualify for WC... probably need Wales to get a point against Belgium for that to happen.

Re: World Cup Player Watch
I’m watching Spains winner takes all game with Sweden.

Fornals not even on the bench, bit of a worry is he ok. We need him!

Luis Enrique has Spain playing some wonderful possession football, quite a delight to watch. There is something flawed with it though isn’t there? With all 11 of Sweden pushed back into their penalty area, predictably it is a tough ask to score... It’ll come, has to doesn’t it?

I hate tika taka football, give me our brand of football, fast counter attacking

Re: World Cup Player Watch
Very skillful and some tasty tackles flying in if that’s what you like.
Sweden trying the counter approach and getting some joy.

Re: World Cup Player Watch
Why isn’t Fornals in the squad for this one?

Please don’t tell me he is injured.

Re: World Cup Player Watch
How Spain need a Costa. They look inept upfront.
Sweden have similar issues.
I quite fancied Sweden's Isak as punt for us but watching him the last few games he looks as useless as Zaza was for us.

Zlatan will come on & score - maybe Morata as well.
How Fornals doesn't get into this team is beyond me.
